Obama Is the Most Hostile Sitting U.S. President In the History of Israel

By Anne Bayefsky

There is some logic in the fact that President Obama has fled the country while Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu addresses Congress. With Obama’s comments this past week on Israel, the president now appears to many as the most hostile sitting president in the history of the Jewish state.

A key casualty of the assault Obama launched this past week on Israel and its Prime Minister, is the prospect of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. When Palestinians move to declare statehood unilaterally in the fall with U.N. support, it will be President Obama himself who will have laid the groundwork.

Why did Obama pick a fight with Israel’s Prime Minister?

Obama’s diversionary tactics

By Caroline B. Glick

What did the president wish to accomplish by purposely starting an ugly fight with the prime minister this past weekend?

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | As the Washington Post pointed out on Friday, US President Barack Obama purposely provoked the current fight with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. He knew full well that Netanyahu does not back the Palestinian formulation that negotiations with Israel must be based on the indefensible 1949 armistice lines, or what are wrongly referred to as the 1967 lines. In the days leading up to Obama’s speech last Thursday, Israel registered explicit, repeated requests that he not adopt the Palestinian position that negotiations should be based on those lines.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offers condolonces and support to America

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opened his AIPAC speech on May 23, 2011, by offering condolences on the recent tornadoes and flooding in America.

Netanyahu stated the following at the beginning of his speech:

“My friends, before I talk about things about Israel, I want to say something about the scenes on television that I saw today and you have been seeing as well.”

When tragedy strikes America, Israel… Israel feels an immediate identification; and tragegy has struck America.”

“In recent days, floods and tornadoes have claimed the lives of hundreds of Americans, including today in Joplin, Missouri.”

“All I can say is, America, we’re with you! On this day, on every day!”

Meanwhile back at home, as his country dealt with the aftermath of the worst natural disaster season in years, Obama celebrated his ancestral roots in Ireland with a pint (where his limo that flies around the world with him, The Beast, bottomed out at the US Embassy). Today he’s gone to visit the Queen in England, along with the the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud which is grounding airport flights.

5 questions about Obama and Israel

5 questions about Obama and Israel

So, now U.S. President Barack Obama can’t understand what all the fuss was about last week.

To hear him tell it Sunday, in front of the powerful America Israel Public Affairs Committee, his explosive remarks last week about the borders of a future Palestinian state were “misrepresented.” The controversy, he said, is “not based in substance.”

Basically, he told Israel’s worried supporters Sunday, everything’s cool. I’m still onside. Don’t worry.

Canada Rejects Obama “1967” Intervention

Canada Rejects Obama “1967” Intervention

by Gil Ronen

Canada refuses to join the United States in calling for Israel to return to 1949 Armistice borders, the Ottawa Globe and Mail reported Monday.

At a briefing ahead of the G8 summit that is about to begin in France, federal Canadian officials said the basis for the negotiations must be mutually agreed upon by Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

“What the government of Canada supports is basically a two-state solution that is negotiated,” a senior federal official said. “If it’s [the] border, if it’s other issues, it has to be negotiated, it cannot be unilateral action.”

US Congressman blames conflict on refusal to accept Israel

US Congressman blames conflict on refusal to accept Israel

WASHINGTON – A top Republican Congressman took a swipe at US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy in a speech to America’s biggest pro-Israel lobby Sunday that won enthusiastic backing from the crowd.

Calling the Palestinian culture one “infused with resentment and hatred,” US House Majority Leader Eric Cantor blamed that mindset as the obstacle to peace between Israelis and Palestinians, not border issues as highlighted by Obama in recent days.

See what president expects Jewish state to surrender next

By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – While President Obama last week outlined an Israeli retreat as part of a deal with the Palestinian Authority, the U.S. in recent weeks also quietly has been leading talks aimed at an Israeli surrender of the strategic Golan Heights, WND has learned.

Dennis Ross, Obama’s Middle East envoy, has exchanged messages the past few weeks between Israel and the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, according to informed Israeli and Arab officials.
