Canada PM slams world leaders for not supporting Israel
Harper slams ‘shortsighted Western capitals’ that don’t recognize sole stable ally in Middle East

EW YORK (AP) — Canada’s prime minister Stephen Harper expressed dismay Thursday at the growing lack of support for Israel across the world and criticized international leaders for failing to back the Jewish state.

“There’s nothing more shortsighted in Western capitals in our time than the softening of support we’ve seen for Israel around the globe,” he said, calling the country “the one stable, democratic ally in this part of the world.”

Calvary Chapel Rebukes Palestinian Event

Calvary Chapel Rebukes Palestinian Event
by Jim Fletcher

In a dramatic showdown last week within the Calvary Chapel (CC) movement, the leadership of the California-based association of churches rebuked an event held at North Coast Calvary Chapel that featured a presentation by Palestinian activists.

Called “Hope for the Holy Land,” the seminar program aims to present the Palestinian narrative to church audiences. Observers are saying that what made the North Coast event such a flashpoint was the fact that since its inception, Calvary Chapel has been staunchly pro Israel.

Israel Leads While the West Fiddles

Israel Leads While the West Fiddles

As the West flounders on whether to take action in Syria and dillydallies about nuclear proliferation amongst pariah nations, Israel once again provides the world with a dazzling demonstration in daring, technical capability and national fortitude. This past week, Israeli fighter jets twice swooped over enemy airspace to neutralize an imminent threat to world peace and prevent chemical weapons and their delivery mechanisms from falling into the hands of Iran’s proxies. Reports indicate that a quantity of Fateh 110 and Scud D surface-to-surface missiles bound for Hezbollah were destroyed. In January of this year, Israel reportedly destroyed state-of-the-art SA-17 anti-aircraft missiles, which the Islamic Republic unsuccessfully tried to smuggle to Hezbollah via Syria.

Israel portrayed as occupier of Palestinian land to churches this month

Calvary Chapel Breached
by Jim Fletcher, May 6, 2013

Near the summit at Masada, one can see the place where the Romans breached the defenses of the 1,000 Jewish men, women, and children who’d fled after the destruction of Jerusalem some two years earlier. It is on the western side and serves as a stark reminder that since forever, enemies of the Jews have sought to do them harm.

Masada ended badly for those Jews, and while they are not always threatened first physically, they are always threatened.

This week, Sami Awad, a Palestinian Christian from Bethlehem (and director of the Holy Land Trust), announced on Facebook that he will be speaking at several churches on the West Coast this month. The May 10th date caught my eye and leaves me dismayed.

May 10 San Diego, CA. North Coast Calvary Church. 7-9 p.m.

In a two-week stretch, from Seattle to San Diego, Awad will speak at more than two-dozen churches. Most of them will be churches friendly to his pro Palestinian message…

JERUSALEM POST EDITOR: ‘WE CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHAT HE’S DOING HERE’

Caroline Glick, Senior Contributing Editor of the Jerusalem Post said the Israeli people consider President Obama “a hostile president overall,” on “Mornings on the Mall” on WMAL-FM in Washington DC.

Appearing with Brian Wilson and myself Wednesday morning, Glick said the Israeli people “can’t figure out what he’s doing here,” when asked about the mood in Jerusalem as the President’s plane touched down for the first time in his presidency.

“Essentially his goal is to empower the un-electable, incredibly radical left in Israel to put pressure on the Israeli government for whatever concessions he wants it to make to the PLO,” said Glick in evaluating the reasons why Obama will be meeting with university students and members of the Palestinian Government during his visit.

Netanyahu’s tiny gift to Obama: A marvel of Israeli nanotech

Netanyahu’s tiny gift to Obama: A marvel of Israeli nanotech
Prime minister to present the US president with a minuscule version of both countries’ declarations of independence

In deference to the ancient custom of world leaders exchanging tchotchkes, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will bestow upon US President Barack Obama, when he arrives on Wednesday for a three-day visit, a gift — but it’s a really small one.

Obama is to receive a gold-coated silicon chip etched with the declarations of independence of Israel and the United States. The etching, 20 nanometers (0.00002 mm) deep, was done on a 0.04 square millimeter portion of the chip. The chip was affixed to a Jerusalem stone dating to the Second Temple Period (1st century BCE to 1st century CE), of the kind used to seal clay vessels.

THE TEN PLAGUES: HOW OBAMA DAMAGED RELATIONS WITH ISRAEL
18 Mar 2013

President Barack Obama heads to Israel today to fulfill a campaign promise from 2012, as Israelis prepare for Monday’s Passover holiday. Though the White House is lowering expectations of the visit, there are signs it may help to repair a relationship that has suffered over the past four years. In the spirit of the Exodus story, here are the “Ten Plagues” that Obama brought to U.S.-Israel relations, in rough chronological order…

The Man Shaping Obama’s Strategy on Israel

The Man Shaping Obama’s Strategy on Israel

The New York Times published a front page story on Saturday, March 16th lauding Benjamin J. Rhodes, President Obama’s “35-year old deputy national security adviser with a soft voice, strong opinions and a reputation around the White House as the man who channels Mr. Obama on foreign policy.” Rhodes successfully led the charge to persuade Obama to throw Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak under the bus and to intervene militarily in Libya to help topple Muammar el-Qadaffi. Now Rhodes is shaping President Obama’s public charm offensive that will be on display during his visit to Israel, the West Bank and Jordan this week.

Anti-Israel Evangelical Left Perpetuates Palestinian Suffering

Anti-Israel Evangelical Left Perpetuates Palestinian Suffering

Recently “Christianity Today,” the prominent evangelical journal, spotlighted the “Top 5 Books on Israel & Palestine,” as asserted by Gary Burge, a professor at Chicago-area evangelical Wheaton College, one of evangelical America’s most prestigious schools.

Burge is a crusader for trying to shift evangelicals away from their typically pro-Israel stance. All five books naturally tout a pro-Palestinian perspective to varying degrees. Evidently a book offering the Jewish experience did not merit attention.

Why Israel Is the Victim

Israel, the only democracy and tolerant society in the Middle East, is surrounded by Muslim states that have sworn to destroy it and have conducted a genocidal propaganda campaign against the Jews, promising to “finish the job that Hitler started.” A global wave of Jew-hatred, fomented by Muslim propaganda and left-wing anti-Semitism, has spread through Europe and the United Nations and made Israel a pariah nation.

Fed up, Obama says Israel ‘doesn’t know its own best interests’

US president, unhappy over settlement building, said to say he has come to expect such self-defeating behavior from Netanyahu

US President Barack Obama, frustrated with continued construction in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, has reportedly become “inured” to the issue and has begun telling colleagues that Israel is acting against its own best interests.

If accurately reported, such comments, expressed by the head of state of the country Israel considers its closest ally, may represent a new low in relations between this US administration and Jerusalem, which in recent years have suffered strains over the Palestinian and Iranian issues…

Positive News for Israel in the New Year

Positive News for Israel in the New Year

With the holidays behind us, and the elections, I do have some good news to report about Israel.

No doubt, this is shocking to you.

Only recently, the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics issued its usual press release about how, in 2020, if the current trends persist, the number of Palestinian Arabs will outnumber the number of Israeli Jews (but only if you include Gaza, land which virtually no Israelis are interested in recovering). Of course, this headline is meant to scare Israelis, and the West…

Netanyahu says he will ‘never divide Jerusalem’

Netanyahu says he will ‘never divide Jerusalem,’ could accept a centrist coalition
In Channel 2 interview, prime minister says he doubts most Israelis would cede partial sovereignty in capital, sets out preconditions for Palestinian state

Jerusalem will not be divided “so long as I’m prime minister,” Benjamin Netanyahu said in a Monday night Channel 2 broadcast. Asked by Yaakov Elon about polls showing two-thirds of Israelis support the division of the city as part of a peace agreement with the Palestinians, the prime minister responded, “I don’t buy it” and stressed that Hamas would be at the walls of Israel’s border if Jerusalem were split.

Netanyahu cited the importance of his late father Benzion’s ideology and its influence on how he thinks, noting the “privilege” of being in the Land of Israel.

“Propaganda Wins” on Israel

“Propaganda Wins” on Israel
By Jim Fletcher
WorldNetDaily

At the Catalyst East conference in Atlanta, I listened to Lynne Hybels give a talk about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. One of her concluding slides was an image of the security fence Israel erected to keep out terrorists. It’s worked quite well, and that seems to bother critics of the Jewish state, who can’t bring themselves to simply say that it’s good Jews are not being murdered anymore.
Instead, the critics refer to the fence as a “wall,” or, more provocatively, an “apartheid wall.” This is a complete inversion of the truth, since Israel is the most open society in the Middle East, and grants far-reaching rights to Arabs.

Mr. Hagel and the Jews

Mr. Hagel and the Jews

During the hearings on Chuck Hagel’s nomination to be secretary of defense, it’s clear that the views of gay rights organizations will be heard. There the issue seems to be whether Hagel’s apology for previous remarks and beliefs was sincere, or motivated solely by self-interest. He had years to apologize publicly, but did so only when opposition from gay rights groups threatened his nomination.

But in the case of allegations of anti-Semitism, Hagel has not even apologized. He has remained silent, though one can expect the usual “perhaps I didn’t word that sentence as best I might have” excuse to emerge at his hearings. The question is, what might he have to apologize for? Why would anyone think he was an anti-Semite?

Like it or not, the state of Palestine is semi-officially on the map

Nearly unanimous support for Abbas’s UN bid shows that even some of Israel’s closest allies blame the Netanyahu government for the impasse in the peace process

On Thursday night, the world made much more than just a symbolic gesture. In recognizing Palestine as a nonmember observer state at the UN General Assembly — the same status as The Vatican — disregarding Israeli and American warnings that such a step was premature and would impede the resumption of peace talks, the overwhelming majority of nations sent an unambiguous message to Jerusalem: We want a Palestinian state and we’re tired of your obstinacy in preventing it.

Should Christians support the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state? The UN is essentially set to vote for one on Thursday.

(Los Angeles, California) — Should Christians support the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state? This has long been an important question. But it’s particularly relevant this week.

On Thursday, the Palestinian leadership will ask the United Nations General Assembly to vote on a resolution that will give them enhanced international legal status, not quite a full sovereign state, but very close. The resolution is expected to pass decisively. France, Russia, China and most nations of the world have indicated they will vote “yes” on the resolution. That’s right, the world is poised to say yes to a sovereign Palestinian state despite the fact that Palestinians in Gaza just committed more than 3,000 war crimes last week…

Kim Kardashian’s Prayer for Israel Draws Death Threats

Woe to any celebrity who dares even publicly hint at support for Israel, lest he or she feel the wrath of fans lusting for the destruction of that embattled Middle Eastern democracy. Like pop singer Katy Perry last year, reality TV megastar Kim Kardashian found that out the hard way last week.

As Israel pushed back against Hamas recently with Operation Pillar of Defense, the normally apolitical Kardashian tweeted this simple note of concern: “Praying for everyone in Israel.” Well-meaning, right? Harmless, right? Not to the Israel-haters among her nearly 17 million Twitter followers, whose illiterate response was fast and furious….
