Stakelbeck on Terror: Israel Surrounded by Enemies
On this week’s edition of the Stakelbeck on Terror show, we feature exclusive interviews with two of Israel’s top government officials, Moshe Yaalon and Danny Danon.
Moshe “Bogie” Yaalon is Israel’s vice prime minister and minister of strategic affairs while Danny Danon is deputy speaker of the Israeli Knesset and a rising political star…
Should Christians support the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state? The UN is essentially set to vote for one on Thursday.
(Los Angeles, California) — Should Christians support the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state? This has long been an important question. But it’s particularly relevant this week.
On Thursday, the Palestinian leadership will ask the United Nations General Assembly to vote on a resolution that will give them enhanced international legal status, not quite a full sovereign state, but very close. The resolution is expected to pass decisively. France, Russia, China and most nations of the world have indicated they will vote “yes” on the resolution. That’s right, the world is poised to say yes to a sovereign Palestinian state despite the fact that Palestinians in Gaza just committed more than 3,000 war crimes last week…
After eight days of fighting, ceasefire is put to the test
The Times of Israel’s final live blog from Operation Pillar of Defense, tracking developments to noon on Thursday: Barak says Israel won this round, but may be forced to repeat Gaza offensive; IDF officer still in critical condition; rockets taper off before midnight Wednesday, leading to quiet night and Thursday morning in and out of Gaza; Palestinians celebrate, Israelis unsure whether offensive was called off too soon…
On this week’s episode of the Stakelbeck on Terror show, we analyze Israel’s ongoing operation against Hamas in Gaza and the Muslim Brotherhood’s potential role.
Plus, terrorism expert Sebastian Gorka explains how America is losing the ideological war against Islamists.
Israel At War Day 6: Today I went into the missile zone and heard the air raid sirens & saw the rockets screeching across the sky
Today, I decided to Tweet (@joelcrosenberg) moment by moment on a visit to the Israeli city of Ashkelon, not far from the Gaza border. I thought it was going to be an interesting visit. I didn’t know the half of it. It’s one thing to watch on TV as rockets are being fired from Gaza into Israel, and to watch the Iron Dome system fire missiles to intercept them. It’s quite another thing to be there in person and hear the air raid sirens going off, and run for cover to the nearest bomb shelter, and see the contrails of the rockets and missiles screeching across the sky, and then hear the earth-shaking booms, and to feel your heart pounding in your chest as you thank God that He protected you.
As Gaza militants fire rockets into Israel for the third straight day, and Israel retaliates with airstrikes of its own, pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel supporters here in Canada are speaking out, each calling for an end to the fighting before it grows into a wider conflict.
In Montreal on Friday night, about 150 people marched outside the Consulate General of Israel to protest Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
By Thursday night Israel was well into its second war against the Gaza terror statelet since Israel’s ill-considered “disengagement” from Gaza in 2005, a move widely hailed at the time as ushering in a new era of peace.
The year leading up to the first Gaza war, 2008, saw over a thousand rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza. In 2009 and 2010, the years after that war, the attacks declined steeply; then they began to rise again and this year, 2012, had reached about 800 before Israel, on Wednesday, finally started to fight back again.
‘Surprise’ rocket fire at Jerusalem shows Hamas flailing but still seeking to escalate the conflict
Gaza’s Islamists, far from cowed, are pushing to their limits in a bid for ‘an achievement’
Jerusalem hasn’t been hit with rocket fire since 1970, when two Katyushas were fired from the Palestinian village of Batir.
The M-75s (or Fajr-5 missiles, depending on the report) that landed in an open space south of Jerusalem on Friday, in Kfar Etzion, were labeled by Hamas as “surprises.”
Mark Levin: ‘Our media are now propagandists for Hamas’
As Hamas has escalated its rocket attacks on Israel, the American media’s coverage has left much to be desired for many on the right, especially relating to Israel’s efforts to defend itself from the terror group.
On his radio show on Thursday, Mark Levin expressed frustration with the U.S. media and its reporting on the issue. Responding to a caller commenting on CNN’s coverage of the conflict, Levin explained how ABC News radio is portraying Israel as some sort of bad guy.
FRAUD: CNN USES VIDEO FOOTAGE OF FAKED PALESTINIAN ‘INJURIES
Last night on CNN’s 360 with Anderson Cooper, video footage was broadcast that purported to show injuries and victims of Israeli military operations in Gaza. The footage was exposed as fraudulent here on Breitbart News yesterday..
The New York Times Evades the Facts to Blame Israel
The New York Times editorials are written by a board of journalists who adhere to an identical formula when penning columns about Israel. It consists of three tenets:
1. Pay lip service to Israel’s right to defend itself.
2. Follow with “but” and devote the bulk of the column to condemning Israel’s self-defensive actions, whatever they may be.
3. Ignore inconvenient facts, statistics, or anything else that may provide readers with a deeper understanding of or sympathy for Israel’s actions.
So it really was not in the least bit surprising when the day after Israel launched a defensive military operation against Hamas terrorists and weapons facilities, that the newspaper’s editorial used the same recipe to excoriate Israel for what it called “one of the most ferocious assaults on Gaza since its invasion four years ago.”
Israeli envoy tells Security Council Israel won’t play Russian Roulette with its citizens’ lives
Palestinian envoy slams Israel for ‘malicious onslaught’ of Gaza during closed door meeting on conflict
The United Nations Security Council held a closed-door meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss the escalating conflict in Gaza and Israel’s south
Both the Israeli and Palestinian envoys were given permission to attend and speak in the emergency session, which was convened at Egypt’s request.
Israeli envoy Ron Prosor defended Israel’s decision to launch an offensive on Gazan terror groups following a four-day volley of rocket fire on towns in the south of Israel.
“We have demonstrated maximum restraint for years, but the Israeli Government has a right and a duty to respond to these attacks,” he told the council. “Israel will not play Russian Roulette with the lives of our citizens.”
More deaths reported as Israeli military, Gaza militants trade fire
JERUSALEM – Israel moved closer to an all-out ground war with Hamas Thursday, as Israeli planes, tanks and gunboats pounded suspected militant positions in Gaza in retaliation for another day of Hamas rocket attacks that left at least three Israelis dead.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters on Thursday that Israel could no longer stand repeated attacks on its southern towns. He said that Israel has “made it clear” it won’t tolerate continued rocket fire on its civilians.
Hamas says Israel has “opened the gates of hell” and warns of massive retaliation; reports of possible IDF ground invasion of Gaza
With the IDF killing of one the top Hamas military commanders — see video of the attack here – and the IAF bombing of at least 20 terror facilities in Gaza, Hamas terrorists say that Israel “has opened the gates of Hell” and that it plans a massive retaliation. At the moment, there are unconfirmed reports that the Israelis are calling up military reserves and making preparations for a possible ground invasion of Gaza.

Bibi’s Big Red Line and The Race to Stop Iran’s Nuclear Program. Does Obama Even Care?
Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu believes that Iran is close to developing a nuclear device. He has even drawn a big red line and has cautioned Iran not to cross it. Will President Obama do the same, or is he content to sit back and allow Iran to join the nuclear club? Find out on this Front Page as Terry Jones of IBD and Rituparna Basu of the Ayn Rand Institute join Allen Barton.
Netanyahu thanks Canadian PM Harper for severing ties with Iran; Obama expresses solidarity with Netanyahu via phone.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper told Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that his speech at the UN is now “reverberating” around the world, Netanyahu said Friday. Following their meeting, US President Barack Obama expressed solidarity on the goal of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, but stopped short of endorsing Netanyahu’s red line approach.
Harper said that Canada wanted to see a peaceful resolution to the Iranian crisis, “and we work closely with our allies to try and alert the world to the danger this presents and the necessity of dealing with it.”
“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
This philosophical question could well be applied to the media’s treatment, or lack of, concerning the latest barrage of rockets to be launched from Gaza at Israeli population centers…
In “Operation Time Bomb,” police and Israel Security Agency arrest 14 Israeli Arab members of terrorist cell that smuggled weapons and explosives from Lebanon into Israel • Security services disrupt plot before bombs get to their handler, foiling plans to carry out huge wave of terrorist attacks against Israeli targets.
Why Don’t Rocket Attacks Against Israel Get Headlines?
Sderot, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Beersheba….All major southern Israel cities are again under a heavy rocket offensive from Hamas-controlled Gaza. There are Jewish dead, babies wounded, schools and synagogues destroyed, cities and towns terrorized. The latest wave of rockets took place only last week. But Israel as the most heavily bombed nation in the world never makes the headlines. Why?
The Only 2 Things You Need to Know About Osama Bin Laden and Israel
May 2, 2011 12:30 by Pesach Benson
I’ll never forget riding home on a crowded Egged bus on 9/11, just a few hours after watching the Twin Towers collapse.
The radio was turned up all the way. Every passenger — working men, babushkas, students — shoulders hunched in heightened state of awareness, occasionally casting concerned skyward glances out the window. Nobody knew how many planes were hijacked. Israel had closed off its airspace.
Might a 175,400 lb passenger jet actually fall on Bus 20 as we passed the Mahane Yehuda shuk?
And now Osama Bin Laden is dead. Killed by US forces, no less. A fitting end.
As far as I’m concerned, there are only two things you need to know about Osam bin Laden and Israel.
While US warns travelers, Israel already on high alert
Following bin Laden death, defense establishment says Israel was previously on alert due to fears of Hezbollah attack.
The defense establishment held a number of security consultations on Monday to assess the threat level and possible security implications that the killing of Osama bin Laden could have for Israel.
A senior security official said Monday that the country was not altering any of its existing travel advisories for the time being. The defense establishment has been on high alert for several months already due to concerns that Hezbollah is planning an imminent attack against an Israeli target overseas to avenge the 2008 assassination of its military commander, Imad Mughniyeh.
Netanyahu: Killing of bin Laden is ‘resounding victory for justice’ Premier’s comments follow announcement by U.S. President Obama that American forces had killed the al Qaida leader; President Peres: Bin Laden was fated to be hanged for hi crimes.
By Barak Ravid
Israeli officials lauded a Monday statement by U.S. President Barack Obama announcing the assassination of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying Israel shared the “joy of the American people.”
Osama Bin Laden was killed not by a drone strike, but up close during a firefight with U.S. troops Sunday. He was not living in a cave when he died, but in a million-dollar mansion with twelve-foot walls less than 100 miles from the Pakistani capital.
The U.S. had been monitoring the compound in Abbottabad for months after receiving a tip in August that Bin Laden might be seeking shelter there. He had long been said to be in the mountainous region along the Afghanistan, Pakistan border, hiding in a cave as the U.S. sought to kill him with drone strikes from above. Instead, he was in a house eight times larger than its neighbors, with walls more than 12 feet tall and valued at $1 million. The house had no phone or television and the residents burned their trash. The house had high windows and few points of access, and U.S. officials concluded it had been built to hide someone.
A Wednesday interview with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu appears on the YouTube World View series, based on questions from viewers around the world.
The 25-minute long interview with the Israeli leader, featuring a clear and succinct presentation of Israel’s stance on critical issues, is the third in the YouTube World View series. The series features interviews with world leaders based on questions from viewers around the world; Netanyahu follows U.S. President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The interview was held in Netanyahu’s home in Jerusalem, and was screened live on Channel Two news, whose star interviewer, Dana Weiss, asked the questions. The queries were asked and voted upon by the YouTube community around the world. A record number of questions – 3,673 – from a record number of countries – 90 – were asked of PM Netanyahu.
Nothing captures the media’s attention like a bomb in the heart of Jerusalem. At this time, one person was killed and over 30 wounded as a bomb detonated next to a busy bus stop near the city’s central bus station and international conference center.
Incredibly, Reuters included the following in its report:
Police said it was a “terrorist attack” — Israel’s term for a Palestinian strike. It was the first time Jerusalem had been hit by such a bomb since 2004.
We’ve long criticized Reuters for its refusal to call terror by its name.
http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | A bombing struck a bus station in central Jerusalem on Tuesday wounding 34 people and killing one other. This apparent escalation by at least some Palestinian factions raises the potential for another military campaign by Israel in the Palestinian territories. This not only could produce another crisis for Egypt, but could also play to Iranian interests in the region.
This quite rare Jerusalem attack comes on the heels of a barrage of rocket attacks coming from Gaza Strip into population centers in southern Israel and the Negev Desert. It also comes a little less than two weeks after a particularly gruesome attack on a family in the West Bank in the Itamar settlement. We are clearly seeing an escalation by at least some Palestinian factions against Israel. Now who is actually behind the attacks is much less clear. Often you will find that a lot of groups will use contradicting claims and denials and new names to deliberately confuse the Israel security intelligence apparatus. Some of the more recent rocket attacks from Gaza were claimed by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which out of all the Palestinian militant groups is the closest to Iran.
We therefore need to put this latest attack in regional context. The killings in the West Bank were intentionally designed to provoke the Israelis. The Israelis, however, refused to be provoked. Then we saw a barrage of rocket attacks coming from Gaza now coordinated with an attack on a bus station in central Jerusalem.
Alert resident spotted Jerusalem bomb just before it exploded; man wounded in blast
Ronen Medzini
Man’s vigilance reduced number of casualties: One of the wounded in Wednesday’s terror attack called police after spotting a suspicious object near a bus station, possibly saving civilian lives and minimizing the number of casualties in Jerusalem.
The man, David Amoyal, informed police, but call was interrupted by the explosion that killed a 59-yea-old woman and wounded 38, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said.
“He saw a suspicious bag and told some youths who were nearby to stay away while he called police,” said Barkat after arriving a the Hadassah Medical Center in Ein Kerem. “During his call, the device went off. If he had a little more time, it’s possible that there would be fewer casualties.”
EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN KILLED IN JERUSALEM BOMBING: Netanyahu in Moscow

The woman who was killed in yesterday’s horrific terrorist bombing in central Jerusalem was an evangelical Christian tourist from Great Britain. The police identified the 56-year-old woman as Mary-Jane Gardner. “She was an evangelical Christian tourist [and] a volunteer at the Bible Translators Society at Yad Hashmonah,” a moshav run by believers, said Calev Myers, director of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, an Israeli civil rights organization that defends the legal rights of Christians and Jewish believers in Jesus. “Please pray for peace and comfort for her family and friends.” Developing.…
BOMBING IN JERUSALEM: Also, more rockets/mortars hit southern Israel
>> VIDEO: CBN runs interview with me on growing Iranian interest in the coming of the Twelfth Imam
UPDATED AT 12:15pm EASTERN: Israel is suddenly facing a new wave of terrorism. A bombing in central Jerusalem today has killed a 59 year old woman and injured at least 38. More rockets and mortars hit southern Israel today, after 50 were fired at Israel last Saturday alone. A new report indicates that since the end of the Gaza operation in January 2009, 282 rockets and 193 mortar shells have been fired into Israel. The IDF is retaliating, but several innocent Palestinians have been killed in the process. Please pray for the Lord to bring peace to Jews and Arabs on both sides of the border, and healing to the victims.
Palestinian PM: Jerusalem terror attack contradicts our plan for freedom by peaceful means Fayyad harshly condemns Jerusalem bombing; Obama also condemns attack in central Jerusalem, rockets fired from Gaza.
Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad harshly condemned the bombing in Jerusalem on Wednesday that killed one person and wounded at least 30 others in Jerusalem, calling it a “terror attack”.
“Even though we do not have enough information regarding the attack, I harshly condemn this act of terror regardless of who is behind it,” said Fayyad, wishing a quick recovery to all those wounded from the bombing.
