America’s Policy Towards Israel Officially Shifts

America’s Policy Towards Israel Officially Shifts

The New York Times Makes It Official: Obama Has Shifted U.S. Policy Against Israel
[Excerpts]

The New York Times officially proclaimed the administration’s changed attitude in a front-page story [April 14, 2010] that ought to send chills down the spine of anyone who believed Barack Obama when he pledged in 2008 that he would be a loyal friend of Israel.

In the view of the paper’s Washington correspondents, the moment that signaled what had already been apparent to anyone who was paying attention was the president’s declaration at a Tuesday news conference that resolving the Middle East conflict was “a vital national security interest of the United States.” Mr. Obama went on to state that the conflict is “costing us significantly in terms of blood and treasure,” thus attempting to draw a link between Israel’s attempts to defend itself with the safety of American troops who are fighting Islamist terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world. By claiming the Arab-Israeli conflict to be a “vital national security interest” that must be resolved, the “frustrated” Obama is making it clear that he will push hard to impose a solution on the parties.

The significance of this false argument is that it not only seeks to wrongly put the onus on Israel for the lack of a peace agreement but that it also now attempts to paint any Israeli refusal to accede to Obama’s demands as a betrayal in which a selfish Israel is stabbing America in the back. The response from Obama to this will be, the Times predicts, “tougher policies toward Israel,” since it is, in this view, ignoring America’s interests and even costing American lives.

Video: Is the Western Wall in Israel?

Video: Is the Western Wall in Israel? – HR Interviews ‘Confused’ Tourists

The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority said implying that the Western Wall is in Israel is misleading. HonestReporting goes on-site to investigate…

Not only have some tourists been stranded by a volcanic ash cloud in recent days but their trauma has been multiplied by the revelation that they weren’t even holidaying in Israel, their destination of choice. According to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, an Israeli tourism ad breached rules on truthfulness due to the misleading implication that sites such as the Western Wall could actually be in Israel.

How could so many have been misled for so long? After supplying HR’s Yarden Frankl and Pesach Benson with maps and compasses, we sent them into Jerusalem’s Old City, seeking out confused tourists to find out which country they thought they were in.

UK Bans Western Wall from Israel Tourism Ads

UK Bans Western Wall from Israel Tourism Ads

The Advertising Standards Authority rules that an Israeli ad breaches rules on truthfulness.

From Palestinian denials of Judaism’s historical ties to the Old City and the Temple Mount to the most recent spat surrounding the status of Jerusalem and Israeli building in Jewish neighborhoods, campaigns to disconnect Israel and the Jewish people from Jerusalem and Judaism’s holiest sites are nothing new.

However, a ruling by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has taken things to new heights of absurdity. The ASA dealt with a complaint concerning an Israel Government Tourist Office advert that “the photograph featured for Jerusalem was of East Jerusalem” and therefore “the ad misleadingly implied that East Jerusalem was part of the state of Israel.”

Solidarity with Israel

Solidarity with Israel

“Obama – Stop Pressuring Israel” was the rallying cry of the day, as over 2000 supporters of Israel gathered in front of the Israeli Consulate in New York City on Sunday afternoon, April 25th to express their views on the current strain in relations between the United States and Israel. Organizers of the rally had expected thousands more to attend but the inclement weather kept many away.

Palestinian Zionist Organization is Founded

Palestinian Zionist Organization is Founded
21 April 2010
by Hillel Fendel

(Israelnationalnews.com) For the first time since pre-State days when Zion and Palestine were synonymous terms, a “Palestinian Zionist Organization” has been established – by Arabs.

The latest Arab to show his public support for Israel is Elias Issa, who describes himself as a “European West-Bank Palestinian.” He writes that he chose a unique approach by which to celebrate Israel’s 62nd birthday – namely, by launching the Palestinian Zionist Organization. He says his goal is “to show the world why it must support the Jewish people and to [distance itself] from the terrorist Palestinian government.”

Statements on the new website include warnings that a new PA state, if it were to arise, would “become the most terrorist state in the world… The Palestinians don’t believe in a two-state solution; they only believe in a one-state solution – a land called Palestine [which] does not involve any Jewishness.”

Israeli Occupation?

Israeli Occupation?
Israel – Middle East
Friday, April 16, 2010
Alf Cengia

Israel has recently been in the news because of the East Jerusalem constructions on what is thought and argued to be Palestinian land. The very mention of the terms Palestinian and Palestine evokes intense political and emotional responses. Who are these Palestinians and how did they lose the land to begin with?

Unfortunately the subject concerning the different mandates and partitioning of Palestine is complicated and not too many observers devote time to check the facts. These questions can only be answered by spending time studying history. But, sadly, revisionism is widespread.
